Faves: Happiness Matters
Becoming a parent can be a bit of a shocker for some.  It is nothing like the babysitting gig you had in high school where you just played with kids for a couple of hours then went back to your real life of fun and freedom. Well, we aren’t all prepared to take on this 24/7 job 365 days a year so here’s a helpful podcast that will surely help you over those hurdles of parenting.
Happiness Matters is a parenting podcast put together by UC Berkeley’s Greater Good Science Center. The hosts Rona Renner, RN and UC Berkeley’s sociologist Christine Carter, PhD discuss ways to raise happy children. They speak from experience and practice what they teach with the children in their own lives. Each podcast is just 10 to 12 minutes long and filled with valuable advice. They discuss anything from Ways to Foster Creativity to How to Handle Tantrums.  You can subscribe to the podcast on iTunes or stream from the website.
Dr. Carter is the author of Raising Happiness: 10 Simple Steps for More Joyful Kids and Happier Parents.  You can find more information regarding her online classes and book at her Raising Happiness website.
You can learn more about Nurse Rona at her radio show’s website, Childhood Matters. Â Bay Area residents can listen to her show live on Sundays at 7-8 AM or dig through the archives to download past shows.
We hope this podcast will help you to take time for yourself and to also take time to be a parent.
Happy listening!
